About Laur(a),

Growing up, I was drawn to creativity and then pulled back away until 2018. As a graduate student of an entirely other practice, I was assigned 3 weeks of self-care - to which I chose to doodle, daily. Since then, I have reignited my imaginative passion and have slowly built my confidence, following, and business. I continue to develop as a self-taught artist, working out of my home, inspired by the world around & within me.

My ability to follow my creative path is a privilege, a revolutionary gift, a chance that so many women, past and present, could never imagine having. My art is for the women who have dreamed and are still dreaming of the opportunity to be vulnerable, to be creative, to tell their truth without fear of persecution and retaliation. For the women whose own self expression has been stifled, robbed, erased, persuaded, exploited, or burned at the stake. For my mother, your mother, their mothers, our sisters and daughters. To honor past women, current women, and the women that will be born and persist.

The last several years, along with the support of many, have motivated my self-taught, multi-passionate journey that has taken me to showcasing my first solo exhibit in November of 2023 and, most recently, participating in RAW Artists’ Showcase LEVITATE in January 2024.
